3.45PM – 4.45PM this will start up again after the February half term

£72 per half term session to be paid at the beginning of the term.

This term we will work with a dress making pattern and follow the pattern to construct a garment.

Suitable for age 12yrs and up

This includes a snack and a drink and use of the materials in the workshop. This block will start after Easter.

Tuesday morning Adult Sewing class with Susan Quekett

10.00AM – 12.30PM Cost £35 per session or £190 for 6 sessions

From basic sewing skills to more advanced pattern cutting - You will make your own toile and progress to making your own pattern and adapting items of clothing. Susan had her own clothing company and her in-depth knowledge of garment construction and production is invaluable in helping students understand how clothes are put together. There is a strong leaning to utility ware but does not preclude any particular project you would like to bring along.

Tuesday evening – Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction

7.00PM – 9.30PM  Cost: £35 per session includes course notes – fabric/ calico extra…

A regular Tuesday evening class with experienced clothing designer Susan Quekett. Learn the principles of making basic blocks, adapting these for perfect fit, and developing individual designs. All aspects of garment construction and professional sewing techniques (including using a sewing machine) will be covered in tandem with pattern cutting.

Wednesday morning – Upholstery with Sheila Nash

10AM – 1PM

£35 per session materials available and charged on additionally.

Springs sagging, cover in tatters, stuffing escaping? Bring along an old, unloved piece of furniture, such as a small nursing or arm chair, set of dining chairs, piano stool and learn how to transform it into something beautiful and useful once again. Both beginners and improvers are very welcome. You will learn skills such as webbing, springing, stuffing and recovering, using traditional methods and materials. Tools will be available to borrow and all materials can be purchased as needed. Only 6 places will be available.


Art for everyone with Susan Quekett

Thursday 10AM – 12.30PM  £210 for 6 sessions essential materials and refreshments

Unleash your creative potential, rediscover forgotten skills, and refine the knowledge you have with Artist and Teacher, Susan Quekett.

In this course you will spend 6 introductory weeks working in a sketch book or visual diary. You will make a range of drawings from primary sources and experiment with media to include pencil, charcoal, watercolour, crayons, pastels, from either a teacher-specified or self-selected theme. The objective being either how to take your sketchbook with you everywhere to draw and paint, and/or how to explore ideas towards image or picture making (abstract of observational) in the studio. Friday morning - Home-ware sewing with Annabelle Davis

10AM – 12.30PM  £35 each session essential materials and refreshments

In this morning sewing group, we will learn all the basic sewing skills needed to give you the confidence to sew at home. Beginners will be guided through each step from choosing the right fabric to setting up your machine. We will begin with a simple cushion and then build in new skills as we move on. During this course you can learn how to set up and thread a sewing machine sew straight seams and hems turn corners finish off seams neatly make buttonholes insert zips make and insert piping. please contact us for timings here
